Kelvin Butler, AKA K-Know, was born and raised in Memphis, TN. Coming from a musically inclined family, Kelvin was reared in the way of music his whole life. His’ father instinctively purchased a piano for the home long before any of his three sons were even old enough to play. He has always had a passion for R&B and it wasn’t long before he began to use his musical skills to produce his own tunes in that genre.
Being the youngest of three brothers, there were not a lot of financial resources for Kelvin to draw on from his parents. Often times he would have to use little means to create professional sounding music. He would, “Wow!” listeners with his music and when learning of the limited resources that he had to work with, they were overwhelmed with admiration.
Kelvin wanted to give the opportunity for musicians to gain high quality music production despite their financial drawbacks so he, along with his business partner Robert (BJ) Malone, created KBJ Records, a company that he still owns and operates today.
